Question 1

What are friLingue School Weeks?

Accepted Answer

Complete school weeks in Switzerland from one partner: accommodation, food, activities, excursions, local organization and — depending on the week you choose — lessons and workshops too. You pick one of five School Weeks and decide how much we should take on.

Question 2

Who is this for?

Accepted Answer

School classes and their teachers — secondary schools, gymnasiums and international schools. Switzerland is our main market, and we also welcome schools from Germany, France, Belgium, Italy and elsewhere in Europe.

Question 3

How long is a school week?

Accepted Answer

You can book 4, 5 or 7 nights. Four nights means Monday to Friday, which is the most common choice. Other durations can be arranged on request.

Question 4

How long has friLingue been doing this?

Accepted Answer

friLingue has been organizing camps and educational experiences in Switzerland since 2007 and has hosted more than 500 school groups.

Question 5

Which School Weeks can we choose from?

Accepted Answer

Language Week (French, German or English immersion), Adventure Week (hiking, Alps, team challenges), Leadership & Future Skills Week (teamwork, entrepreneurship, AI, presentation), Computer Camp Week (AI, vibe coding, robotics) and the Classic School Week, where you bring your own programme.

Question 6

Can we bring our own programme?

Accepted Answer

Yes. That is exactly the Classic School Week in its school-led format: we handle accommodation, full board, activities and the organization on site, and your school runs the programme. You can also hand us the whole week instead.

Question 7

How does the Computer Camp Week work?

Accepted Answer

The technical content is delivered in partnership with Future Kids. You choose the focus — AI, vibe coding, robotics, game design or 3D — and the workshops are adapted to the age group and experience level of your class, including classes with no prior coding experience.

Question 8

What is the difference between the formats?

Accepted Answer

They differ in how much friLingue takes on, and that is what drives the price. The range runs from a school-led week, where you bring your own teachers, up to the full friLingue programme, where we provide the lead and experienced camp staff. The Classic School Week offers three of these formats; the other weeks offer all five.

Question 9

Who looks after the students on site?

Accepted Answer

A coordinator is on site for the whole stay in every format. Beyond that it depends on the week and the format you choose: language mentors for a Language Week, activity leaders for an Adventure Week, workshop or tech coaches for Future Skills and Computer Camp, camp leaders for a Classic week. In the mentor formats we plan one staff member per 6–8 students.

Question 10

Can we combine a theme with any format?

Accepted Answer

Almost. The theme decides what the week is about, the format decides how much we take on — they are two separate choices. The one exception is the Classic School Week, where the two language-specific formats do not apply.

Question 11

Where do the groups stay?

Accepted Answer

At our houses in Braunwald (GL, up to 80 students), Liddes (VS, up to 60) and Petit Vélan in Bourg-St-Pierre (VS, up to 33 — 25 beds in the main building and 8 in the annexe, an 8 minute walk away). Further friLingue locations, including Schwarzsee, are available on request.

Question 12

What about meals and dietary requirements?

Accepted Answer

Full board with three meals a day is included. Vegetarian, vegan and allergy-related requirements are catered for — tell us the details when you book so the kitchen can plan.

Question 13

How are the rooms organised?

Accepted Answer

Students sleep in group rooms; teachers have single or double rooms, subject to availability. Students bring a sleeping bag — teachers get a duvet included, and bed linen for students can be booked for CHF 25.

Question 14

What does a week cost?

Accepted Answer

From CHF 390 per student for a school-led week, rising with the level of support and the number of nights. The price calculator on our homepage shows the exact figure for your group size, dates and chosen format, including the accompanying teachers.

Question 15

What is included in the price?

Accepted Answer

Accommodation, full board, the activities and excursions of the chosen week, and the organization on site. In the St. Bernard region the Great St. Bernard pass is bookable at CHF 29 per child and covers the region's excursions. Some optional excursions carry a surcharge, which is always shown separately.

Question 16

What happens if we have to cancel, or if fewer students come?

Accepted Answer

On booking we ask for a deposit of 25%. It is not refunded if you cancel, but it carries over in full if you move the week to another available date — school dates shift, and we would rather reschedule than keep your money. Up to 75 days before arrival a cancellation costs a CHF 500 administration fee, or nothing at all if you reschedule. From 45 to 74 days we retain 50% of the total, deposit included; under 45 days the full amount is due. If your group simply gets smaller, up to 10% fewer students is free of charge until 14 days before arrival.

Question 17

How do we book?

Accepted Answer

Choose your School Week, tell us about your class, and we go through it together one to one — by phone, WhatsApp or video. You then receive a proposal with the exact scope and conditions, and only after that does anything become binding.

Question 18

How do we get there?

Accepted Answer

Braunwald is reached by train and funicular, about 1.5 hours from Zurich; the village itself is car-free. The St. Bernard region is reached by train to Martigny and then PostBus, about 2 hours from Bern or Lausanne, with the local bus transport in the valley included.

Question 19

Can we visit a location beforehand?

Accepted Answer

Yes — teachers regularly come and look at a house before booking. Get in touch and we will arrange a date that works.
